Hi RFLC,
I only have one extension in v35.
(Intercept Youtube Links. v1.0) Nothing else.

In the posted image/s, I'm using version 30 & that shows the Tool Bar error.
I have CTR version 1.2.3 in there, along with a heap of others.
Mainly all CTR features set at default.

The others...

Hi Joe and Limpet, thanks for the info on your respective setups. The tab toolbar bug should now be fixed. Well at least it's fixed for me, your mileage may vary.

Red Cats 5.7.1 beta 4 2015-03-07 for Firefox 4.x - 38.0.x: green flavor (CTR tab toolbar fix)

Now, if you're using CTR and its own Tabs on Bottom mode, you need to apply one of the two hacks, depending on whether your bookmarks toolbar is hidden or shown:

Code: Select all

@import url("chrome://global/skin/hacks/ctr_tabsOnBottom_BookmarksShown.css");
@import url("chrome://global/skin/hacks/ctr_tabsOnBottom_BookmarksHidden.css");

And for those who are using the Red Cats built-in (non-CTR) Tabs on Bottom mode, apply one of these:

Code: Select all

@import url("chrome://global/skin/hacks/tabsOnBottom_BookmarksShown.css");
@import url("chrome://global/skin/hacks/tabsOnBottom_BookmarksHidden.css");

I was unable to reproduce the overlap bug with Fx 38, the latest CTR and the latest RC - no overlap for me. Will try with Fx 30 and CTR 1.2.3...

Dearest RFLC,

Thanks so much for your effort. The bug is now fixed. =D>
> http://edu-net.net/images/tabfix.jpg

However, much to my dismay, it was fixed before I updated to your latest version. In your post, you mentioned the CTR settings "Tabs not on top". I had never really looked at it before, but your comment led me to take a closer look.

As I've written on the image, I had never noticed that CTR has a "v.2" of its "Tabs not on top" setting. I noticed that it says "V2 is for some add-ons and complete themes only". Just out of interest, I clicked it, and voilà the problem was solved!

This, of course, made me feel really bad because I've been wasting your time when the solution was, apparently, in front of my nose. :oops: I sincerely apologize.

Anyway, I then installed your new fix version, for which I thank you VERY much. Everything is now OK.

Again, please excuse me for taking your time.

Have a nice Sunday.

Thank you RFLC.

It's not a game changer by any means, as I only use v30, occasionally for testing/checking stuff.

You may want to try Stylish. Click on the Stylish icon -> Write New Style -> Blank Style -> copy and paste the code.

Worked perfectly. Thanks. :D =D>

I am so happy to see there is a beta! I just installed it on Fx 36.0.4 on Windows 8 Pro. It works great. :D

I was hoping this beta would give me the throbber icon in Customize since I also use CTR and enabled the throbber through CTR. I currently have the blah looking default dotted circle instead of a neat red kitty with a blue ball on its tail. Any way to get the Red Cat throbber as I really love it? I have it on Pale Moon 25 (x64) where I enjoy it greatly.

I was also wondering if it would be possible, without a lot of trouble, to give us small icons, if we prefer them, on Fx with CTR? I was seeing truncated Red Cat icons and a very narrow address bar after upgrading from Fx 35 to 36 awhile back. Unchecking use small icons in CTR fixed it but the big icons are really big when one is used to using the smaller ones ever since you wrote this theme I think...way back years ago.

Red Cats has always been my favorite full theme but sometimes I have used various Personas for awhile (always came back to Red Cats after a bit) and I have tried some other full themes. I must commend you in that Red Cats is the ONLY theme, either full or Persona, that I have tried on Fx since Australis where my oldest and my important extension works correctly. That extension is Tree Style Tabs aka Tabbed Browsing Extensions in its original manifestation with Fx1 when I also used it with Red Cats. I am addicted, especially after all these years, to having the tabs down the left side and hate them anywhere else.

Tree Style Tabs by default uses the theme for skinning the tabs. On Windows 8 no full theme or persona I tried (a bunch) skins the tabs correctly except for Red Cats. Many personas are a complete disaster so I am impressed and glad that Red Cats can properly skin tabs down the left side. Plus the indentation coloring for the child tabs and even the pinned tabs at the top are correct! Again Red Cats is the ONLY theme/persona I have tried that has been to accomplish this on current Fx.

Tree Style Tabs down the left side puts an arrow at the bottom of the last tab which when clicked on shows the list of all tabs. NO other theme full or persona can do this on current Fx on Windows 8 except Red Cats. The arrow is missing and while it can be seen in customize it can't be dragged if any theme other than default or Red Cats is in use. So, I am very happy that my favorite theme and favorite "must have" extension work so well together.

Image

i can't thank you enough for all the hard, sometimes frustrating and time consuming work you do on this full theme. You're amazing! =D>

Thanks. But that is way too difficult to get to. I found the file and throbber (both sizes) easily but that's located in a Winrar zip file in a much more convoluted location because I am using Fx portable from Portable Apps.com and the Throbber Restorer ---I can't follow the intricate path to the file from it! I've tried and tried. Ahhh.....I copied the files to the Desktop where I could very easily navigate from the extension to and there is my cute little kitty with the ball on her tail! :) The two icons appeared immediately in the extension on the Addons tab but to get it to appear at the end of the address bar, I had to close and restart Fx36.

I suppose I should have chosen the large icon because the small one looks a bit funny with all the other cats being big icons.

I have downloaded the Red Cats (blue flavor), but when I click on it to install it, I get a message saying "Invalid or corrupt jarfile".
I have Firefox 37.0.2, and Java version 8 update 45. The file which won't open is redcats_blue_5_7_1b4-fx.jar

Have you tried just dragging 'n' dropping it into Firefox' Addons/Extensions?

First off, thanks for your kind words y'all! :D

Release versions of Cats have been uploaded to AMO. They have yet to be approved by Mozilla and right now the install link on the AMO page is hidden and you need to hover your mouse over the version number for the link to appear.

So here is version 5.8.0 for Firefox 4.x - 39.0.x: green flavorblue flavor.

And these are development builds for nightlies/Fx 40.x: green flavorblue flavor. All new major features like Reader Mode are supported but expect A LOT of missing images if you're on WinXP and running the latest (somewhere after April 2nd) nightly build. The devs should fix that...well, hopefully anyway...but honestly, I'm getting progressively more pessimistic with every new Fx version.

Scarlettrunner20 wrote:I was also wondering if it would be possible, without a lot of trouble, to give us small icons, if we prefer them, on Fx with CTR?

Install 5.8.0 and try this one:

Code: Select all

@import url("chrome://global/skin/hacks/ctr_smallIcons.css");

It's still unfinished but will give you the general idea. Can't say I'm pleased with the result though. Maybe it's just not worth the trouble in the end.
