Do mozillaZine Forums use Markdown?
Wondering if mZ Forums use Markdown? I'm aware that that interacts with HTML, and these use phpBB instead. Still, some of the things I see here are similar. Viz, links that use a title which uses an (unseen) "embedded" URL; other things. Of course, I can just do straight postings here, without dealing with Markdown protocol. This came up for me because a (non-tech) forum I am on, became a "subreddit" on Reddit just recently, as I just discovered on going back to them. If mZ doesn't use Markdown, then how do they do the above specific action? Have noticed before and have been wondering.

Links are a standard BBCode tag that is part of phpBB:

You can see the BBCodes that mZ supports if you hit the Preview button.

Thanks for the reply. Just replying now; this computer's been acting slow just now.
OK; I got it. I already went on the phpBB link from mZ Forums. I see where the posting protocol is listed under Communities there.
This gets the same looking stuff as Markup. So it's *not* exclusive to that. phpBB is better, IMO.
I am on yet another (non-tech) forum that uses phpBB, V1. Will have to see if I can do that stuff there as well.
BTW, I think you meant "Post a Reply", not "Preview".

Re: Do mozillaZine Forums use Markdown?
BBcodes have been standard since long before Markdown existed. Generally, the basic set of BBcodes supported on this forum should be supported on just about every forum and especially phpBB forums. A phpBB forum can also have *custom* BBcodes which you would only find on that forum.
Either Post a Reply or Preview buttons will show the supported BBcodes as buttons.

Thanks again. So Markdown is a latecomer. De-evolution... and/or poor/cheap imitation. Re limitations.
(Had to restart this computer. It's the usual nonsense about YT freezing with HTML5/Flash, and non-responding scripts.)

Thanks... my bad. Way down at the bottom of the Board index; never been here.
Not sure what anyone else can add? I wanted to say, that the phpBB Communities link, gives more detailed info than the buttons in "Preview" on mZ Forums. Would be a good idea to put that link in FAQs. Just sayin'.

It's hard to see, but in the Preview/Post Reply section there is a link under the Smileys:
BBCode is ON

Thanks yet again. That is on mZ Forums itself.
I kinda noticed it before - but it doesn't really draw attention to itself, as you have noted.
