Best to judge the state of a release via announcements from a "human" - like https://blog.mozilla.org/thunderbird/20 ... -released/ - rather than a webpage.

i think rsx knows the best place, i dont think he needs to be told where , a blog isnt an official release channel either

I consider authoritative and official whatever is posted on http://www.mozilla.org/thunderbird, and for that purpose, the Release Notes are the official source of information on a specific release. While it is nice that the release driver is posting a blog entry, it's complementary information and certainly of interest (especially with some background information given).

But, if anybody wants to be picky, I couldn't have known about the blog as it was posted the day after the release appeared on the Thunderbird front page (and thus the day after my post). ;-)

Actually, that webpage went live due to a misunderstanding.
Anyone trying to download from that page would have found nothing on the release channel.
We tried hard to make this a smooth release, but as always sometimes sh@t happens.
Even some linux distros took that as a sign to release.

If you use oauth2 for gmail and master password, it asks for master password two times on start up. I don't know whether it is a bug.

Can anyone who is specifically on Mac OS X only, use/confirm whether custom-strings.txt feature is working or not on 38.0.1? (viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2941025). Apparently, this is working on Win7 and Linux for 38.0.1, but not on OS X. Hence want to see if I'm the only one here seeing this behavior. Thanks

You could try sending a PM to Nomis101, he is using Mac OSX and has his own localized builds.

rsx11m: Thank you for the pointer. I've sent a PM to Nomis101. Hopefully he may be able to help out.
