On July 17 the following add-ons were added to Firefox
without being requested. Also, I don’t allow automatic
updates.
ADB Helper 0.7.4
Valence 0.3.1
They appear to be for developers. They are not listed on
the AMO site.
Is this something new from Mozilla? I’ve never had auto
downloaded add-ons in the past.

Re: Unsolicited Add-ons Valence and AdB Helper
I have only seen them installed by default in the Aurora/Developer versions..Currently the Firefox 40 profile. Never seen on the release that you are on. Installing a different version and using the Aurora/Developer profile they might get 'inherited' but probably would fail... I always left them disabled.

This is a reason why you should not share a Profile between different development channels.

It's still a mystery. I've not been on other than release
channel since the run-up to Australis. My best guess
at this point is that I'll never know. Not a new thing.

Have you opened/used any of the developer tools recently? Clicking the wrong thing in there might trigger those to be installed.

A possibility (note the lower case "d" in the title),KWierso wrote:Have you opened/used any of the developer tools recently? Clicking the wrong thing in there might trigger those to be installed.
so a finger fumble is always in the mix.
Whatever the cause, I have deleted them and will
consider the problem solved, sort of.

Hi there! I've been experiencing some strange redirects in my browser lately, to scammy pages in Dubai or other exotic places. I think it's been hijacked. I've then checked my extensions looking for some bad apple, and there it is, this "Valence" thing that I didn't install. Curiously enough, a message in there says this extension has been disabled (doesn't say when) because it couldn't be verified for its use in Firefox. I hope the problem will now go away, it certainly looks as related to this extension.
