Update to 39.0

This edition ports 40.x’s one feature: JPEG images use less memory when scaled and can be painted faster. You can browse the link example http://bbs.nga.cn/read.php?tid=8294255&_fp=2&page=1 to compare the memory with other edition.

First Thank you for making pcxfirefox is really great build IMO then I wanted to ask you some stuff

On the readme it says " 2) Introduce multithread load and portable feature ( set Portable=1 in tmemutil.ini to enable the portable feature )"

Is the multithread support available by default or do you have to enable it? Do you have to use the portable feature to enable it?

Also could you make e10s support available on this version as you did with the image feature of firefox 40?

Multithread support is enabled by default.

E10s will cause many compatible/stable problems at present, so I have no plan to enable it next edition.

lol

This is the first version/build ( PCX ) in comparison to some other third-party builds that I truly notice difference in rendering speed.

On this http://minus.com/ PCX renders truly faster. Nice.

I have two questions:

1) Is this compatible with Windows XP x64 (pcxFirefox-33.0.2-enUS-vc2013-x64-sse2-betterpgo-141028.7z)?
2) How do I install this so that everything rests peoperly in their directories (APPDATA, Program Files, Registry Entries), like the regular Firefox Installer does?

Thanks

1) In theory it is compatible with WinXP x64, but I have no WinXP x64 OS for testing.
2) Only what you do is that uncompress it and run it, it will use official edition's profile by default.

regarding pcxFirefox x64 and Windows XP X64: Versions 35.0.1 & earlier of pcxFirefox x64 will work on WinXP x64 as I've tested them myself on an actual XP64 system. However, pcxFirefox x64 versions 36 & later will not run on XP64 and will fail with the error message "firefox.exe is not a valid win32 application". It looks like pcxFirefox x64 v36 and greater will require minimum Win7 x64 as I did try to run pcxFirefox v39 win64 on a Vista SP2 x64 system but didn't work so I used pcxFirefox v39 x86/win32 version on Vista64 instead.

yes but you were not clear on what versions of pcxFirefox x64 no longer worked on XP x64.
that's what I was trying to get at. you have to be more specific & precise in what you said in that link you gave me.

edit 7/11: however, I did get pcxFirefox v39.0 to run on Vista x64 (it actually was the x86/win32 version of pcxFirefox 39, not the x64/win64 edition which didn't run on Vista x64 but did work on Win7 x64) and I also had Cyberfox 39 x64 edition on there which also worked on Vista x64.

I haven't tracked the related official changes for a long time, but pcxFirefox is based on the official code, if I don't point that particularly, then the feature is the same with the official edition.

For reading as bugzilla is not a discussion forum like here. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1093741#c12
The 64-bit Firefox.exe itself will no longer run on older operating systems than Windows 7 since bug 1094013. BTW Firefox.exe itself has no checks. The operating system is the one that checks the subsystem version of the executable.

It also mentions Firefox 36.0 milestone in November addition.

in next version firefox 40 you build your version using visual studio 2015? I do not know if it would have any advantage optimization, or give the same visual studio 2013

No, I only have a server VC2013 installed, but I have no admin to install another compiler at present.

Hi xunxun1982!

Will you include this change that blocks all plugins outside flash?
For whatever reason they decided to mutilate the win64 build's functionality.

Do you want me to use the patch or not use the patch? The patch should land in offcial 41.0
