Awesome bar is misbehaving in 39 (suggesting opened tabs)

Post by pirst »

When typing in url bar it suggests currently opened tabs as well even though I have this option deselected in privacy preferences. I have selected only suggest history option. It used to know what tabs are already open and not include those in the list. Now if you visit some list of sites on one domain daily (like bunch of youtube channels) it's no longer usable feature.

I tried in two different profiles.

Go to Options > Privacy and at the bottom uncheck 'Open Tabs'

Go into about:config & verify that the setting for browser.urlbar.suggest.openpage (which is what the above should be setting) is in fact set to 'false'.

(On a lark) have TabMixPlus?

Any change in Safe Mode?

Try safe-mode as therube suggested... at least that 'might' take TMP out of the pic... I use TMP but don't have your problem... maybe it's one of the gazillion options in TMP?

Only other thing I can think is to disable ALL Plugins, & then try Safe Mode again?

i tried in brand new profile that doesn't have any extensions installed. I unchecked open tabs in privacy. I loaded edition.cnn.com and if type in urlbar cnn it suggests me edition.cnn.com. same in safe mode in that brand new profile.

Now this "suggestion", that is a "Switch to tab" (the dropdown shows the Site & "Switch to tab") type suggestion?
Because if it is not, then that's a different issue.

Same issue. Not "switch to".

I'm a little confused here... if that was a new profile to test with... and you made no changes to it other than visiting that site... where does the above (in red) come into play... I just checked one of my test profile and I don't see anything about tabs in privacy....

To be clear, we're talking about Switch to tab, the top shot, not the bottom?
