Why does the subject remain empty when posting a new reply? Couldn't it be 'Re: subject'?

why? subjects are maybe important for threaded forums, but not for this one.. I never look at the subject of a post, and I dont think most others do.. :)

yes.. I look at the 1st subject too..
so why not remove subjects, except for the 1st one?

Well - for one, if the thread degenerates into talking about two different topics, then the
subject can be a good way to track what is being talked about. For instance, I notice that
the message has two questions and I want to answer one of them but not the other. I hit the
quote button and change the subject to "<question 1 topic>". From then on, if you reply
to me by hitting the Quote button and get replied to by hitting the quote button etc, the subjects
will convey that we are only talking about <question 1>.

So I think that the subjects do make sense. And if it's blank - well you can leave it blank :).

yes, but couldn't it be 'Re: subject' by default? or something like that..
