Anyone mind breaking down SVG? I have a partial understanding of this type of "view". But I couldn't possibly form it into words until I get a brief refresher in what it does.

Great! Does this mean they're considering adding options like w/ Extensions?!!!! One guy (bdeonline - Moderator here) suggested this long ago (Oct. 6th, 2004) in the extensions forum area and I backed him. Idea never got any following though.

Ex. Like letting a user choose customizing details inside/specific to a theme. Adjusting different element styles (Like checkbox, checkmark, radio button, etc.), Address bar URL highlight color, page highlight color, unvisited/already visited link color, etc.

I understand though, Themers would have to add to/rework their themes to provide this functionality. It simply isn't going to appear.

No. There are more important things to do than adding more bloat. Right now, FF is already occupying 84 MB of my RAM.

That's what I expected some opposition to be. It wasn't a push for "bloat". It's a push for recognition AND development. It's a ways from being implemented. FF has come a long way! What the hell else do you suppose is more important now??? Now, that numerous security patches have been afixed [leaving room for more discovered in the future] and the serious cache mismanagement, huge abnormal memory leaks [if any], Bookmarks Randomized delete, odd-ball extension errors [though usually the culprit is the extension is it itself], future revamped options/prefs panel and internal profile struggles are left, they will take a while to sort out and address. People's demands are going to grow regardless of these hinderances.

It doesn't mean we can't have room for development on the side for features people may like and desire such as mine [or, originally bdeonline's].

I have a 56k (actual 46.6 bps connect), Win Me, 96 MB Ram, a 1.99 GB [one morsel away from a rounded 2] w/ 10 MB free not accounting for the hella-full misappropriated mixed free space signals it gets [sometimes it's 10 or less, sometimes it's much higher but never greater than 50] and the OS is taking up approximately 1.5 of this!!!! Only 300 MB is dedicated to one music folder and 298 MB tops off my software [Office page '97 is taking up most of it] not counting miscellaneous files which could contribute around 150 MB at its maximum. HOW THE HELL DO YOU THINK I FEEL? And, I'M NOT COMPLAINING!

Maybe someone in the computer world should lower the "whatever would be funny here" half-staff in grievance for me [though there are others with far worse conditions than I].

BTW, Olive, what's that symbol mean? Like dropping change in a slot? Something's been done, finally landed, so to speak?

The latest Official build was Firefox 1.0.3 || 2005-05-01 Trunk (themes/plugins don't work !)

Peter, just a question. Don't the plug-ins work already? They're visible in about:plugins.

And, about the themes issue. The themes don't install because they lack a chome.manifest file right? Or is there something else?

Themes will install with a chrome.manifest file but there are other issues as well that will break themes if they have a chrome.manifest file due to the way xpinstall copies uniauely the jar file to the profile dir and then the EM uses that name which can be different than the one specified in the chrome.manifest. I just submitted a patch to fix this and several other issues in <a href="https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292506">bug 292506</a>

I added this file in my theme and it's working!

I made a new profile to test the 20050501 build and it's very impressive how easy it can be to make a new profile!!! At first I hacked all extensions I use inserting a chrome.manifest file, making the version changes at install.rdf. I modified install.rdf inserting <em:type>2</em:type> for extensions and <em:type>4</em:type> for themes. I also deleted all install.js.

To save my preferred configurations, I made a new profile without extensions or themes, configured the appearance from toolbars and my personal preferences at "Options Panel". Then I backed up the files localstore.rdf and pref.js so that I can insert them in every new profile without necessity to configure all those things again.

I simply copied all my extensions and themes files to folder "extensions" and after a new Firefox start I had all my extensions and themes working!!!

I noticed that now I can easily "clone" a profile with all extensions and themes without problems!! Great!!!

BTW, speaking of internal profile struggles, how's the "Import..." feature doing? Still buggy, do half its job, or not at all?

It's a bug that has affected a lot of Windows users, and in many cases causes huge dataloss. It's one of the reasons I've heard for people going back to I.E.

I saw this once. Rightclicked on a bookmark in the main bookmarks-menu, choosed Sort By Name, and then a large folder, beginning with an "A" (Alphabetical) was gone.

Edit: There are also tab extensions like Minit that cause bookmarks to disappear when the extension is not updated. People may not realize the connection..
