Seamonkey 2.38 Password Manager

Post by thomka »

Hallo,

Thomas

Hello there,

after the update of Seamonkey to version 2.38 the password manager does not work anymore. Already saved passwords are no longer automatically added as well as for new passwords Seamonkey is no longer questioning whether the password should be saved in the password manager (The check mark in Options / Privacy / Passwords is set for Save).

Someone an idea?

Thanks for any reply!
Greeting ... Thomas

Das gleiche bei mir. Es scheint bei vielen Leuten so zu sein, im Netz findet man einige Beschwerden dazu.
Ich habe wieder 2.35 installiert, da geht es wieder.

Me too. It seems that this issue occurs to many other people, you can find a lot of complains in the net.
I downgraded to 2.35 in order to make it work again.

I know saying "works fine for me" isn't totally helpful to the people who are having problems with this, but I do need to say that this is definitely not a universal problem... existing passwords are shown when I ask, and on new site logins, I am asked whether I want to remember the password.

Of course, I am running a 64-bit build of SM 2.38... ;)

So, RDaneel, what do you want to say with your posting – a problem is only a problem when you have it?

All he was saying is it's not a universal Seamonkey problem.

Revert to 2.35 for now as mtjm did perhaps?

I'm running the 32-bit SeaMonkey on Win XP Pro SP3 and it works OK for me, too!

Dave.

:-k BTW, I'm using several different distros (debian 8 Stable 'Jessie' x64, debian 9 - Testing 'Stretch' x64, LMDE 'Betsy' x86, Archlinux x64 ... etc),
with SeaMonkey 2.38, and no problem at all with the passwords. Image

Bug 1213089 - Update 2.38 makes problem with passwords

> after the update of Seamonkey to version 2.38

What did you update from?
There was this issue, Firefox 32.0 - Saved Passwords Aren't Showing, so if you were updating from SeaMonkey 29 or earlier, you may have run into it.
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Ok, one hint from the discussion of Bug 1213089 works for me.

I installed the full en-us version of update 2.38 with a german language pack and the password auto fill seems to be back again. I will monitor this issue if it will be fixed completely by using this workaround or there are still some problems.
