After working with the guys from Cybertech, running multiple malware, spyware and virus programs, I'm still getting a Secure Search Home Page. The curious thing about it is that it happens each day between 4pm EST and 6pm EST, depending on when I startup Firefox. Is this part of the Home Page default? Once this comes up I have to restore the home page default.

Hi,
A quick Google for it found quite a few references to AVG & it's Safe Search "feature."
Do you run AVG?
A couple recommended trying either/both AdwCleaner &/or Junkware Removal Tool.
Both are available from the bleeping computer malware specialist removal site.

They will assist you in removing it if needed.

Re: Secure Search: Part of Firefox?
Thanks Limpet, yep, the guys on the CyberTech forums ran me through a host of different programs, including ones I use often, but no luck. Yes, I do see that it has something to do with AVG, but I don't use AVG, nor does it show up in the CCleaner Program list, nor in the Windows Uninstall List. I've even tried to disable some of the settings in about:config, but no luck. I'm going to assume that even "if" the software removes the program, it will simply return again the following day. The only option left and I hesitate to do it is to format reload.

Did your home page in IE and/or Chrome get hijacked also?

I removed Chrome and Edge appears to be unaffected.JayhawksRock wrote:Did your home page in IE and/or Chrome get hijacked also?

Re: Secure Search: Part of Firefox?
Ironically, this was the thing I tried. I'm currently running Win10 and I don't have Chrome, just Firefox and Edge. As mentioned, Secure Search does not appear in "any" of the Firefox settings, whether its from the App Properties or about:config. I have no idea where its hiding.

This site is trusted and free...,

Or Maybe something helpful here >

FWIW, it is hiding and running in Windows services.... and probably has placed something bundled in the Freeware you installed in Windows Programs

Thanks Jay, I'll give that a try the next time it pops back up.
