Looks sort of like TB is sick and/or dying and there are no medical staff to keep life support running.
Linux builds died last year (well Dec 15th anyway )
Its a bit sad, especially now that TB supports Maildir which works so, so, so much better than mbox - sadly, now it gets feverish with no Dr's in sight.
It kinda looks like we need to start looking for alternative mail clients.
On Linux there isn't a lot to choose from with sufficient functionality - kmail and evolution are the obvious ones - neither of which is close to being as good as TB.
What are people thinking of doing? Wait it out and hope someone adopts TB ... switch clients - if so to what?

Just because the various development channel builds are having issues building does not mean Thunderbird Releases is done for.

32 and 64 bit builds for Linux of Thunderbird 38.5.1 (the latest released version) are available on the web site.

That doesn't help those of us that install/update from our Linux distributions software management application, where neither has shown up yet.

OpenSUSE has 3.5.1 RPMs for both 13.2 and 42.1 in http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla but yet needs to pick up 3.5.2; as frequently, it takes a while until the delta-RPMs are posted in the regular update repositories.
As for trunk builds, they are currently busted due to some syntax change in JavaScript, and the Linux debug builds don't get beyond the mozconfig stage for a different reason related to GTK3.
