Repeated Login Failure

Post by peedee28 »

Even though I successfully activated my account I am disallowed from logging in, being told that I exceeded login attempts (not surprising since it seemed not to recognize my acct from the outset) and must now log in w/ a captcha. When I do this I'm told once again that I exceeded # attempts and must log in w/ a captcha.
Rinse and repeat.

How do I get past this seemingly endless loop, please?

Environment:
Firefox 40.0.3 /XP
NoScript 2.6.9.36 (all scripts allowed for this site)

There is no entry in the user list for a peedee28 although there is one for peedee27. Have you tried logging in with that ID?

Yes, I tried to log in as "peedee27", but I was told that peedee27 was in use so I couldn't log in w/ that name. Whatever... So I used "peedee28". The only reason I had been peedee27at all was because my attempt to create an account w/ "peedee" went through, sorta, and then got wedged. The system considers "peedee" in use, although it seems not to recognize its password, despite its having commended me on the use of a strong password as I strove to set up my "peedee" account.

That's when I created another account, peedee27, for which effort I was sent an activation e-mail, only to get wedged a bit further down the line, hence, my previous post.

I rec'd the activation e-mail, which told me that my account was all set, but still I couldn't log in. Hmmm, maybe I had the password wrong so clicked the link for forgotten pwd. When I supplied my e-mail address I was told:

The e-mail/username information submitted could not be found.

It's certainly the correct e-mail address; you just used it to send me an activation link.
BTW, the prompt didn't even ask for a username, just an e-mail address.

Thanks for your continued help.

My mistake [sic]. I didn't read pwd reset prompt correctly. I'm attempting it the correct way now. I'll let you know how I fare.

Try logging on using the 27 name and the password xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and then, if successful, immediately change the password.

I can log in. At least at this time. :)
I went to User Control Panel, but can find no place to change pwd. Where ought I to look?

I'm all set. I can log in 'n' everythin'.

I am sorry for the endless back-and-forth. But if these exchanges were to accomplish nothing else, yet they would serve to demonstrate the promptness of the moderators/cognescenti in helping me, and by induction, others, to get it sorted out straightaway. You folks are terrific.

Thanks,
