For some reason I can no longer play any videos on tumblr. When I click on the triangle/arrow play button in the video, nothing happens.
Firefox 46.0.1 running on Win XP. I created a new profile to test, still happening.

Example URL: http://soquicktopointthefinger.tumblr.c ... hsugarblur

I see some errors in the console, probably relevant:
Code: Select all
GET https://secure.assets.tumblr.com/client/prod/standalone/video-iframe/index.build.js [HTTP/2.0 200 OK 469ms]
POST XHR https://geo.query.yahoo.com/v1/public/yql [HTTP/1.1 200 OK 937ms]
mutating the [[Prototype]] of an object will cause your code to run very slowly; instead create the object with the correct initial [[Prototype]] value using Object.create index.build.js:47:9080
Specified "type" attribute of "video/mp4" is not supported. Load of media resource https://www.tumblr.com/video_file/141147236217/tumblr_o343riSDIY1r3uvu0/480 failed. 400
All candidate resources failed to load. Media load paused. 400
POST http://ss.symcd.com/ [HTTP/1.1 200 OK 172ms]
GET https://secure.assets.tumblr.com/assets/src/scripts/vendor/video-js/video-js.swf [HTTP/2.0 404 Not Found 94ms]

Any ideas?

From the console >
Specified "type" attribute of "video/mp4" is not supported.

You will need the latest mp4 video codec installed on your system to play the Video ... AFAIK, XP does not have it installed natively .... Good luck with finding one.

I was able to watch tumblr videos on that machine several days ago (probably before the upgrade from 46.0 to 46.0.1)
What could have changed?

They also use Flash for me... I Dont know why you are getting the MP4 error
Maybe try dumping your cache, setting flash to 'always activate' and restart Firefox and try'

I think the following may be the culprit:
The QuickTime plugin has been blocked by firefox as "insecure" but the newer version does not install on XP,

Cool, that worked.

In my case, I had to specifically set the Pref, media.gmp-eme-adobe.forcevisible, setting it to 'true', then in Addons Manager, I 'Check for Updates', at which time /gmp-eme-adobe/ (& associated dll) turned up (in your Profile folder).
