Hello. I've got this Fox Web Security, but it's blocking too much for the family. I don't remember making a password, and I can't seem to delete or change preferences. Appreciate some help!

Run firefox in safe mode(without addons)

command line:
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode

or
Code: Select all
firefox.exe -safe-mode

after start:
type in address-bar: about:config
search: extensions.s3security.password_value
reset value

quit from firefox

I've tried to Whitelist in multiple iterations.
*.zenmate.com
*zenmate.com
api.zenguard.biz
https://*.zenmate.com/*
support.zenmate.com
and OpenDNS still alerts for adult content thru FWS rectangle info box.
Zenmate is VPN, has no adult content.
I had similar observe with NortonDNS Policy3, so I'm on NortonDNS Policy1 with OpenDNS.
FWIW ~ I'm still thinking "Whitelist" should quiet all from FWS.

Update: dropped OpenDNS, added Yandex.
Tried Whitelist and tired of OpenDNS reporting adult content w no adult content.

Hi,

1. I'm surprised at some of the sites that are blocked. Is there any way to know why the site is blocked or deemed suspicious? The site that is listed on 2. below gives this message: This website is not allowed.

http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com

Reason for the lock:
This website may harm your computer and your personal information. (Comodo DNS)

So the Comodo DNS service has made the determination? Any way to learn more, get details or whatever?

2. Some of the sites are blogs for household tips, like: http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com that would appear harmless, suppose they could be hacked or have other issues that I don't understand, I'm not so techy. Any guesses why it would harm my computer or personal info?

3. Some of the sites are shopping sites for a particular company that I believe is legitimate, perhaps they're blocked bc of tracking info? Other reasons a shopping site might be blocked? Do the owners of most sites that are blocked know their site is doing things that cause it to be blocked, unless hacked. It seems reasonable if a site knew they were hacked they would take action to remedy.

4. Sometimes a tumblr page will be marked as suspicious (not sure if any have been blocked), though most tumblr pages are permitted, not sure why that happens. Anyone understand why that might be.

Thanks for any insights and tips on using this interesting tool!

in different DNS-services there are different rules.
I Do not know how and why Comodo (or Norton, or Yandex, or ....) make decisions on site security.
you can contact support DNS-service to ascertain the reasons for the lock.

also you can disable DNS and specify any DNS of the list:

Is it possible to customize the message displayed when a site is blocked? I could not find documentation to read about this.
