Thunderbirthday, is it alive? Any replacement?

Post by Scrauso »

Hi all,

I enjoyed very much Thunderbirthday (https://addons.mozilla.org/it/thunderbi ... rbirthday/), but its development seems to have stopped at TB version 38.
Anything going on? What else could be used to show in TB calendar the birthdays of my contacts?

Thanks!

Hi,
Seeing as the site is in Italian, I cannot find a "Contact the author" or a "Support site" link.
Perhaps if you did so?

Moving to Thunderbird Support..

Yep. Both contact links time out.
&...It looks like you're stuck with a non-functioning extension.
Checked the Addons site for an equivalent?

I've been looking around quite a while for a replacement addon, with no luck so far. :-(

Thanks

Someone may know of a similar extension.

It quite common for an add-on author not to release an update just to bump the max_version supported. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that its no longer supported, I'd assume the author is not going to release another version unless they need to fix a bug or deal with an API they use changing.

The birthday features of https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunde ... er/?src=ss have supposedly been integrated into https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunde ... /cardbook/ , though that add-on doesn't mention Lightning at all.

I've downloaded https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user-med ... 1.5-tb.xpi, but when I try to install it from file
- on a Slackware 14.1 64 bit, TB 45.1.1, nothing happens
- on a Slackware 14.1 32 bit, TB 45.1.1, TB crashes

I installed a older version of that add-on before and it created new address books. There are recent comments on the add-on web page about it working fine. I suggest you contact the add-ons author.
