Weird, no problems here: E-mails send fine with 2.45 (Build ID 20160811201750) on Windows 7 using a Gmail account.ndebord wrote:Well, I hope 2.45 final is better than this early version. Everything works well, but it won't send emails out. Not a clue, reverted immediately to 2.40 and all works as it should. XP PRO.
Is 2.40 the last of the SeaMonkey updates?

rsx11m,
Yikes. I shall have to try again and see. Perhaps an extension. Or perhaps XP vs W7. Will try again and see what happens (also using Gmail, POP3).
Tks.

right-click > new > string
name:
Code: Select all
general.useragent.override.<domain>
value is the custom user-agent string
EDIT Wait, are you asking this because something to do with https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1084475?

I don't understand that bug, I already use a site specific UA override for Facebook (shows an IE string) and it works fine.barbaz wrote:EDIT Wait, are you asking this because something to do with https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1084475?

That means they're only looking at the header, and not the UA string given to Javascript.Frank Lion wrote:I don't understand that bug, I already use a site specific UA override for Facebook (shows an IE string) and it works fine.
Test site: http://useragentstring.com/
That shows you the header.
Set a site-specific UA override for the site, then load that URL.
While still on that page, get the UA from Javascript, this bookmarklet will do:
Code: Select all
javascript:alert(navigator.userAgent);

Nope, it showed the general.useragent.override string, not the site specific one.barbaz wrote: Test site: http://useragentstring.com/

Re: Is 2.40 the last of the SeaMonkey updates?
Thunderbird managed to get a 49.0 beta released today, so apparently the fix for Bug 1297786 solved the issues with the localized versions for them. Hopefully that fix is straight-forward to translate to SeaMonkey, thus increasing the chances of a release in a predictable (and ideally not so far) future.rsx11m wrote:The problem is with the build system indeed, but many issues have been solved recently, thanks to ewong's efforts. The last pending problem as I recall are the localization repacks.

I've been using SeaMonkey since the Mozilla Suite days & I'd really hate to see this browser being discontinued it has loyal follower base where will they go If SM dies, Like myself we all use SM for our own reasons & we wouldn't want to go with one of the mainstream browsers because It wouldn't be the same.

Re: Is 2.40 the last of the SeaMonkey updates?
There is really no intention to discontinue the SeaMonkey project. On the contrary, development is ongoing and there are something like 115 SeaMonkey-specific patches for the next release in the queue (plus those for Mail/News Core and general Gecko fixes). It's mostly a problem of infrastructure and fighting the build system.
ewong has started the release process for SeaMonkey 2.46 (on par with Firefox 49.0) but ran into some issue with the Linux builds for a change. Also, at some point not all localizations were signed off for the non-English builds, and the localization system itself underwent some changes.
Meaning, it's rolling, but road blocks keep coming up and delay the releases.

Looks like a final release may be on its way soon!
