Ransomware targetting Linux servers

Post by Reflective »

It seems that Ransomware called Fairware is targetting Linux servers demanding payment of two Bitcoins for release of encrypted files. Failure to pay will result in the files being leaked.

However, the criminals behind the attack don't want to verify that they actually have the files and it could be a scam. But if the servers which have been taken down hold sensitive data, admins may decide to cough up anyway rather than risk having their data leaked.
