syncing problems with google calendar

This is a new problem:

I create an event or modify an event in Lightning 4.7.3 (add on in Thunderbird 45.3.0). This event does not show up (or change) in the Lightning calendar, but it does show up (or is changed) in the Google calendar. I do click on the "synchronize" button in Thunderbird, restart Thunderbird, etc. but this does not seem to help. The synchronization is fine with the calendar app (aClalendar+ )on my Android phone.

Do you have the extension Provider for Google Calendar installed?

Yes, Provider for Google Calendar is on.

This problem has occurred several times in just the past few weeks. For the most recent event that I modified, the syncing finally occurred overnight.
