Just a quick question : some threads appear to be missing, any chance of getting them back , or should we consider them gone for good?

Hopefully not, it's a tragedy that the gripping AD discussion about bread (white/brown/sourdough) was lost.....

If the database was restored from a backup (Kerz didn't say if that was the case) any threads added after the backup date would be lost forever.

If the server ever goes up in flames, how will the users here know if the board is ever going to come back? Is there somewhere else updates might be posted?

There are folks here who also post on the official Mozilla support forums. I imagine they would provide updates to the best of their ability in that situation.

Here? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/all

That doesn't really look set up for announcements.

I only ask because there were like 2 crashes within two weeks, and like at reddit in the firefox subreddit, people were asking about the prognosis of the site.

Also, I'm kind of OCD sometimes, and I would keep coming to the site to see if it was back up yet.

It would be nice if there was somewhere to find out what was up.

forums.mozillaZine.org is a independent site owned by one person and is not run by or a part of Mozilla.org http://www.mozillazine.org/about/

Support.mozilla.org is run by mozilla.org so why would they have any announcements about this independent forum?

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums/ is the section mainly for support.mozilla.org stuff and the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/ is for support of what is mentioned on page.

The database maintenance error basically meant things was being worked on by kerz and or OSU Open Source Lab.

I was replying to DanRaisch.

Just forget I even asked. It's not important.

Does it seem like I was complaining? I wasn't. I am thankful Kerz has restored the forum.
