Hello,
I would like to change the order in which the email accounts appear on the left of the email window. I seem to remember that this was stored in the prefs.js file, but I also seem to remember that the prefs.js is no longer in use with the new profile format.
Is there information somewhere on how to change this order?

Re: sort order of email accounts
Prefs.js is still the location for all account settings information and the order of accounts can be modified by editing that file. It's not something usually recommended because it's far too easy to make an invalid change to the file and prevent Thunderbird from starting or running. Instead, this extension can be used for the purpose -- https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunde ... t-folders/ There may be other such extensions as well.

Can you drag them and drop them in the folder pane? I seem to remember doing that.

This is SeaMonkey and not Thunderbird. I can't install that extension because it says it's not compatible. I can't even manually install it from the file unless there is some way to over-ride the error that I get when I try to do that.DanRaisch wrote:Instead, this extension can be used for the purpose -- https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunde ... t-folders/ There may be other such extensions as well.
You can only do that if you have an extension installed, though I have never understood why this was not a built in functionality.Anonymosity wrote:Can you drag them and drop them in the folder pane? I seem to remember doing that.

Manually sort folders is under the list of extensions that do not work after conversion.barbaz wrote:Does this help? http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=2834855LMHmedchem wrote:This is SeaMonkey and not Thunderbird. If someone can post a link for instructions for manually editing the prefs.js file I will try it that way. I am not worried about making an error with the edit because I will back up the file first anyway. I also make a full backup with mozbackup before doing anything like this.

See if this old thread (yes, it's for Thunderbird) still works for SeaMonkey -- http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=56225

I remember now. It was the order of folders or subscriptions that you could change with drag and drop.
