Message filter in Thunderbird. [Linux.]
I tried to filter out unwanted messages in Thunderbird in my Linux Mint.
It does not work, why? What can I do?
I chose Tools > Message Filters New> named a filter > "From... is" > entered unwanted mail address > selected "Delete message" and the OK.
But none of the messages is deleted...
They come again...

Re: Message filter in Thunderbird. [Linux.]
Do the incoming messages match the entire unwanted email address you entered for the filter criteria?
Is there a single criteria being texted for in that filter or are you testing for multiple addresses?
How is the account set up in Thunderbird, as POP or IMAP?

Re: Message filter in Thunderbird. [Linux.]
Messages later come again from the same mail address.
But your question gave me the idea that it may be better to set "Delete from POP server."
In have done that, and now we will see.
Because I have POP accounts.

Re: Message filter in Thunderbird. [Linux.]
Deleting the messages from the POP server won't impact any messages downloaded to your computer, either previously or in the future. It's an "after the download" deletion, not prior to.

Re: Message filter in Thunderbird. [Linux.]
Just use the "Delete message" action instead.

Re: Message filter in Thunderbird. [Linux.]
Are the messages being properly identified but not deleted by the filter? And what is the exact definition in that filter?

Tools > Message Filters New> named a filter Blocklist> "From... is" > entered unwanted mail address > selected "Delete message" > Run filter on [Mail inbox in Thunderbird] and the OK.

Re: Message filter in Thunderbird. [Linux.]
Are you specifying one or more than one address in the criteria?
Have you tried "From" "contains" rather than "Is"?
What is selected for "Run filter when?"

Re: Message filter in Thunderbird. [Linux.]
I have also tried "contains" with no better result.
As indicated above: "Run filter on Inbox"
There is no choice for "Run filter when"...

This was an important question.DanRaisch wrote:Is there a single criteria being texted for in that filter or are you testing for multiple addresses?
If you are testing for more than one sending address in a single filter, be sure you have "Match any of the following" selected rather than "Match all of the following".

Thanks fore the information that is not given on any webpage I found that tells about the message filter...
