I rarely use this command, but I recently tried to manually open a .xpi add-on file and discovered that the command didn't work on SeaMonkey v2.46 Candidate Build 9 installed on my Windows 7 Pro work laptop. Executing the command either by selecting File --> Open File... or by hitting Ctrl+O appears to do nothing. Then I came home and tried the same command on v2.46 Candidate Build 6 on my old Windows Vista Ultimate laptop and got the same (lack of) result.
I haven't tested this on previous official versions of SeaMonkey, so I can't tell if this is a new bug or not. I ended up solving my problem by dragging the .xpi file I was trying to install into the open SeaMonkey window and that allowed me to install the downloaded extension.
File --> Open File... (Ctrl+O) Doesn't Do Anything in v2.46

Thanks! You pointed me in the right direction. In Safe Mode the Open File... dialog started working. I then went through each extension, disabled it, restarted, and tested again each time. It turns out the Mozilla Archive Format extension caused this bug. I will let the developer(s) know tomorrow.therube wrote:Working here.

I found the issue reported in the MozDev BugZilla: https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=25256.

You are still having Lightning from an earlier candidate build in your profile. The version # was wrong then. If you are having problems with it install 5.1b1 from the website:

Thanks, that user agent string was from v2.46 Candidate Build 6 on my Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I'll check it out. I don't really use Lightning that much, but did play around with it a little bit two nights ago. No issues that I could tell.frg wrote:cuppettcj
