Apart from changing 'media.mp4.enabled' to 'false' in 'about:config',
which does Not allow Facebook Videos,
is there any other suggestion?
-Windows: 10 x64
-Firefox: 50.1.0 x64
-Adobe Flash: 24.0.0.186

Line across the bottom of the page mentions allowing cookies, video opened and then stopped for a download issue.

Firefox 64 bit , no Windows or Wine crossover, Linux OS only, flash removed entirely.
Using VLC and Widevines.
This system also blocks a great deal of detritus, temporary players and cookies.

Re: Firefox 50.0.2 64-bit ~ Video Problem
The video comes from a *legitimate* National Radio-Television Website.
There in Nothing *suspicious or hidden* with the respective video.
-With Firefox 32-bit, the video opens O.K.
-With Firefox 64-bit, the video doesn't open *unless*
changing 'media.mp4.enabled' to 'false' in 'about:config'.
Then, this change *negatively* affects Facebook Videos!
No Facebook videos!
For one more time, my system is Windows x64!
What happens with Linux or Mac OS is something beyond my interest...

Have you tried the video from the source instead of Facebook?

The respective video has nothing to do with Facebook.

Firefox 50.0.2 64-bit ~ Video Problem
Why the setting 'media.mp4.enabled' to false in 'about:config' allows the Video to play?atlanto wrote:If you set 'media.mp4.enabled' to false in about:config(or by using javascript), you'll be able to see the video playing anyway somehow.
Makes me wonder: Is it Adobe Flash to blame on it?

Re: Firefox 50.0.2 64-bit ~ Video Problem
Well... It's hard to explain...
Though I don't know about JW Player at all,
JW Player uses a media-type-specific 'provider' to handling the media, 'provider.flash.js' or 'provider.html5.js' or such. I can inspect it on Tools->Web Developer->Network.
As a fact, 'provider.flash.js' is chosen on Firefox-32bit(Google Chrome as well), but 'provider.html5.js' is chosen on Firefox-64bit. I'm guessing it is mischoice.
Then, I suspected if I could disable html5.video, 'provider.flash.js' would be chosen. At least "media.mp4.enabled=false" can force to choose 'provider.flash.js'. It is a trick. (so I wrote "will be able to see the video playing anyway somehow")
I don't think this is flash-problem.
Also, I'm doubtful this is firefox-problem.
See Web Console(or Browser Console) when the error occurred, there is a warning message such as
>HTTP “Content-Type” of “application/vnd.apple.mpegurl” is not supported. Load of media resource http://ep.ert.gr:1935/vodedge/_definst_/mp4:dvrorigin/2017/tv/news-themata/20170115-kypriako-news2100.mp4/playlist.m3u8 failed.
(this message itself is correct. it is not a bug but a spec)
I can view that video on Firefox-64bit(without modifying media.mp4.enabled) at
JW Developer - HTTP Stream Tester
(it takes a bit long time to start playing though)
I cannot investigate what causes the problem, JW Player version?(webtv site uses 7.8.4, stream tester uses 7.8.7(it loads 'provider.hlsjs.js')) site config? ad? bug in Firefox? I have no idea.
I tried to debug the web site to investigate why 'provider.html5.js' is chosen, but the Firefox built-in debugger is not useful.(and I'm not an expert) I'm stuck here.
It won't be controllable on user-side anyway. Asking for the web site or JW Player site, or submitting a bug report to bugzilla(since 32bit Firefox has no problem, there might be difference/incompatibility between 32bit and 64bit) is better, I guess.
(I'm using Google Chrome to view videos, btw)

With version 49 or earlier versions of Firefox 64-bit,
there was NO problem in respect with viewing videos from this legitimate site:

Re: Firefox 50.0.2 64-bit ~ Video Problem
Hi, I recently got exactly the same problem with videos. Impossible to read any flash video and the flash plugin has crashed all the time. I identify and solved the problem after deactivated the Free Download Manager plugin. Since everything is fine for playing videos.
I'm using Win10 64bit and FF 50.1.0

Re: Firefox 50.0.2 64-bit ~ Video Problem
Bad news...
JW Player doesn't work on 64bit Firefox with Flash plugin. (unless forcing to use it)
JW Player tests whether Flash plugin is available or not by using jwplayer.loader.swf and its ActionScript. Firefox is not supporting it or preventing it.
See Object Element Property Test
and look Web Console or Browser Console.
"ActionScript invoked swf.embedCallback()." can be seen on 32bit Firefox but not on 64bit Firefox. It causes drop "provider.flash.js" and pick "provider.html5.js" up.
Anyway, it doesn't work...
(http://webtv.ert.gr/ has updated JW Player to 7.8.7 in these days, btw)
@212eta,
Same error on 49.0 I tried.
You can try old version anytime. If you won't have problems with former version, you had better to submit a bug report to mozilla.
