I have tried the above twice - I still get "connection to server timed out"

Let's see if this problem persists in Windows Safe Mode, to eliminate the impact of the security software -- https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... -safe-mode

No go! In safe mode as soon as I clicked on Thunderbird it immediately said " cannot connect to server"

No offense, but was that Windows safe mode or Mozilla Safe Mode?

Since I am out of business with any email I tried some other clients. Seamonkey gave me the same 'server timed out' message. Mailbird works just fine.
What's going on???
