The thread number stays the same as it is not made as a new thread. When a mod/admin moves a thread to another forum section you have the option of leaving the shadow topic link redirect so people can find the same thread easily.

There is a way to move a thread and make it as a new one as I have made use of the Split options where you can essentially move all posts of the thread to be a new thread and not just split off from a point or selected posts. I used this trick a few times in past back when we had a few persistent spammers that kept trying to spam certain threads but we wanted to keep it unlocked if possible.

Which makes sense, otherwise people get confused.

But when the threads - that shouldn't have been in that forum in the first place - are weeks old or that the OPs and main posters have posted on the moved thread again....the purpose of leaving the shadow topic still in the original forum, is what exactly?

tl;dr? there are too many shadow topic traces left in General.

I moved the top three threads out of General and removed the shadow. Let me know if the others move back up and I'll do the same with those. For now, the next one is halfway down the page and hasn't been active for over a week.

Funnily enough, those are the one I'd have whacked first. Especially, when there has been 'resolution' - http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14731596 i.e. the OP has regained control of his bowels once more, etc.

Anything, it's not a 'big thing', it's just that I noticed that Firefox General was looking like Custer's Last Stand these days, i.e. full of arrows.

What sort of man would put a known criminal in charge of a major branch of government? Apart from, say, the average voter.
