I had some difficulties migrating my search plugins to seamonkey.
So that you don't have to search like i did:
Copying over "searchplugins" folder is not enough.
You need to also copy over "search.json.mozlz4".
(it took me a while to figure this out B[ )
My Firefox profile was very old, i suspect the searchplugins was a legacy thing.

When I started using SeaMonkey (going from Firefox), I just downloaded the search plugins over again from mycroftproject.com. I did not want any of the original ones anyway.
