This connection is not secure ??
Just downloaded latest FF update and now suddenly told that a forum I've been running for years using Firefox is not secure....????

Wouldn't there have to be existing support for https: for something like that to work?

since v52 firefox moans about websites that offers a login but not httpS, its that padlock in the address-bar left side.

An http connection is not encrypted and thus is not secure. Your login name and password on an http connection are being sent in the clear and can be captured anywhere along the way.
For a secure login you need to connect via https, which requires the server to have a valid security certificate available.
This is the way it has always been, but for whatever reason, the folks at Mozilla have decided to start making a big deal of it.
