Freeing up disk space [deleted emails etc] [Mac.]

Post by johngilberttyler »

It seems hard to get T/bird to permanently delete any number of old emails. Easier to delete the lot [100%].
The free disk space function in Tools > Accounts tab does not seem to work well at all. I am using 2017 T/bird 45.8.0 on a 2016 Mac OSX in the UK. Luckily I have kept the older Mac with its store of old emails, but this non-working function [disk space sortout] does seem to be a common problem on the T/bird forums.

Reason: Added [Mac] to the title.

Actually, AFAIK, this is the first time this issue has been reported on these forums. Try successively selecting the Inbox of each account set up in Thunderbird menu path File->Compact to recover space currently occupied by messages marked for deletion.
