Odd glitch in Firefox 52.0.2

Post by Space_Kn1ght »

I updated about a week ago, it acted fine for a day and now this odd thing is happening. Reddit isn't showing any ads which is nice but it also isn't letting me expand any media previews. It only fixes when I restart Firefox and if I don't use Reddit for awhile, or start a new browsing session it messes up again.

I'm only using Classic Theme Restorer and UblockOrigin, Ublock isn't on for Reddit.

Here is what the Webconsole says:

"Client Error: "TypeError: r.spotlight is undefined" thrown at L1:1 in https://www.reddit.com/ Message: "TypeError: r.spotlight is undefined"" Object { tag: "unknown" } reddit-init.en.qKqIsEzMerg.js:5:28075

Best thing to try first is restart Firefox in safe-mode just to see if stuff works...it may take a little while since it doesn't have the problem
at first...
Try running Firefox in safe-mode... NOTE: This is a testing procedure only ... NOT for normal browsing.
-- On the menu bar, click the Help menu and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled....
Firefox will start up with the Firefox Safe Mode dialog. Click continue in Safe Mode and don't check any items.

Note: You can also start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the shift key while Single/Double clicking on the icon.
* (option key while starting Firefox on Mac).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>What safe-mode does ..... Safe Mode temporarily affects the following:
* All extensions are disabled. --- * The userChrome.css and userContent.css files are ignored.
* The default theme is used, without a persona. --- * The default toolbar layout is used.
* The Just-in-time (JIT) JavaScript compiler is disabled. --- * Hardware acceleration is disabled.

-- Safe Mode has no effect on the following --
* The status of plugins is not affected.
* Custom preferences are not affected.

This is the link to the main KB article for Safe-Mode ... but, use the above info 1st...

You might want to also do this...
From a prior post from Dan Raisch (with minor changes) ...

(If using a version below Firefox 3.5.) Clear the browser cache (Tools->Clear Recent History->select cache->click on "Clear Now" button).

Else... use menu path Tools->Options->Advanced->Network tab->click on "Clear Now" button.)

Delete any cookies relating to the site(s) involved (Tools->Options->Privacy->Show Cookies button).
Note: The above is for Windows so if you're using a different OS refer to this...

As you can see she's (The CAT) always alert and on the prowl for Meoware !!

Try different firefox profile. To run profile manager run c:/path/to/firefox -p, then you can create a new test profile or run/edit/delete other profiles.

To run a profile you can use either firefox -P profilename (if use the selected profile without asking on startup prefference is checked) or load firefox in normal way and use it other wise. To start different profile while another one is running, add -no-remote to command line.

Replace c:/path/to with actual path to firefox (or remove it entirely if firefox directory is in system PATH environment variable)
