Reason:changed title due to misleading 2017-12-31+
mozilla-aurora has been merged into mozilla-beta this morning, which probably marks EOL for mozilla-aurora.
Note that comm-aurora yet has to be merged into comm-beta (I'd expect this to happen later today).
Also, there will be no version bump on trunk as the next merge will directly go into beta:
comm-aurora is now merged into comm-beta as well, so is the old comm-beta into comm-release.
Both mozilla-aurora and comm-aurora are now permanently closed.
Good bye Earlybird! (unless they move those to the beta channel instead...)
To answer myself. Earlybird, for me, has "updated" to Thunderbird 54.0 beta2. However none of the 'graphics' have changed. The icon and the update screen still are Earlybird.

There is no 54.0 beta tagged whatsoever in the repository. You may be on the beta channel now, which means that you should get updated from the current 54.0a2 to the upcoming 54.0.b1 once it is released.

I do not know what had/has happened. Tonight we had a power outage in the area and it was long enough that I did not want my UPS to 'die' so I shut down. Which is something that I seldom do.
When I rebooted there was a lot of 'disk thrashing' and my "Earlybird install now reports that it is version '54.0a2'. Which, unless I have really lost my, is what it should be numbered?

untill there is a official Beta 54 released you'll be merged to that instead, as rsx said, there is no 54b1 tagged as of yet
Thanks for the suggestion but I think I might have fixed it. I don't know why I did not think of this earlier.
As I said the installed version of Earlybird would not even start so I d/led 'todays' build of Earlybird and installed in 'over' the broken one. And like the Phoenix rising from the ashes it is back.
However I see no evidence of a change to the beta channel. Perhaps too soon for that.
Friend, I really don't want this to sound "snarky" but you recommended "Daily" to me before to replace Earlybird and it appears that you may actually use Daily on a regular basis.
I originally went to Earlybird because of an addressbook bug that was at least two releases away from 'fix'. And I found it a sound program. In your experience is Daily like that? Reasonably sound? Is the "profile" compatible"
Stuff happens so no sticks -n stones should something happen.
