Firefox Display Problem
I begin to notice display problem on Firefox 52.0.2 esr in WinXP when I measure internet speeds on http://www.speedtest.net, the pointer is somehow broken, and some of the figures are missing. To get rid of that problem, I have to downgrade to version 50.1, that is the latest version without that symptom.
I realize that Mozilla has stopped the support of Firefox on WinXP, we should be grateful enough that Mozilla is still giving out the Firefox esr for WinXP, and hence it is too much to ask Mozilla to fix that problem, so this is just a feedback. And I will be happy to stay with version 50.1, unless I hear that there is a fix for this problem in a later esr.

Re: Firefox Display Problem
Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

Re: Firefox Display Problem
Thank you DanRaisch for your fast response.
As a matter of fact I have done what you suggested before I wrote this message, but unfortunately to no avail to get rid of the problem, therefore I rolled back to version 50.1, and I am happy to stay with that version.

Re: Firefox Display Problem
Except that version includes security issues that have been addressed and corrected in subsequent updates. If you can't use version 52.0.1 you should see if the latest ESR version will work for you -- https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/o ... tions/all/ That will ensure you have current security fixes but avoid the feature changes, etc. that might be involved in your problems.I rolled back to version 50.1, and I am happy to stay with that version.

Re: Firefox Display Problem
Thank you DanRaisch for your advice.
Security is certainly an important issue for the update. Therefore I will pay attention and try every Firefox update, should I later find a version that is free from the display problem I described earlier, I will report back into this thread.
BTW, it will be great if other Firefox users on WinXP can share whether they experience this kind of display problem.

Re: Firefox Display Problem
Today I found <Firefox Setup 52.1.0esr.exe>, for security reason I did upgrade my Firefox to that version right away. Unfortunately that version brings the display problem back. So that I have to roll back to version 50.1.
I wonder what could be the reason that the display problem seems to happen only to me, but not to therube. Tip or hint will be highly appreciated.

Could be an ad blocker or partially, just tried the site and was told to turn off the ad-blocker to use the site.

Re: Firefox Display Problem
Thank you Grumpus for trying to help.
I am almost certain that the problem is not caused by ad-blocker, because I have tried that in version 52.0.2esr.
But for the sake of certainty, I tried to reinstall the latest version 52.1esr, disable all extensions and plugins, the display problem is still there.
If we pay a little bit more attention, this display problem started after esr, so if someone know the development of the display property in the esr’s, and what is the different compared to 50.1, maybe it could shed some light what is causing the problem.

Re: Firefox Display Problem
There had been a Firefox 52.0.2 ESR version, current is Firefox 52.1.0.

Did you try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox?

Re: Firefox Display Problem
Presumably that included Dan's suggestion of Safe Mode (& as Safe Mode also disables hardware acceleration...).Wijono wrote:As a matter of fact I have done what you suggested before

Re: Firefox Display Problem
Thank you all guys for trying to help.
I have tried to reinstall latest version 52.1.0esr, disabled Hardware Acceleration and started it in Safe Mode. Unfortunately the display problem is still there as can be seen in the following image:
So for the time being I will stick to version 50.1, that is the latest one before esr that does not have that display problem.

Re: Firefox Display Problem
Probably it's this bug - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1334415
You may or may not want to try the temporary "fix":
dom.ipc.plugins.asyncdrawing.enabled=true.
I haven't seen plans for a real fix for ESR 52.
