Default blue highlight is sometimes darker. Why?

Post by BobbyPhoenix »

So I'm not sure if this is a Firefox bug/issue, or a Windows bug/issue, as I think Chrome does it too. On occasion when I start my computers (two of them), or do a reboot, the blue highlight color is sometimes darker. After a while it magically turns a lighter blue (as it did today (second screen clip)). The lighter blue is what I get 90% of the time especially if the computer has been always on for days. It's only a cold boot, or restart that I get the darker color. It never reverses (goes from light to dark). Does this happen to anyone else? I don't change themes, Windows colors, or extensions. It just seems random as sometimes a cold boot, or restart, it keeps the lighter blue.

Moving to MozillaZine Tech as the OP reports this seems to occur in Chrome as well and it is certainly not a Firefox "bug".

There's no one that ever highlights text in Firefox that can tell me if they have a light or dark blue? Wow! I must be special.

Hi,
I have to say that I've never seen that slight colour difference.
But....
I use this Style (in Stylish) to change the highlight colour. Might help?

Scroll down a tad.
Edit to suit...

Just a follow up. I tried that Style, and I really like that highlight. Thank you very much.

Do you still see the original colour glitch?

Nope because the Style overrides the default, so all is good. Plus with Stylish I can now change it to whatever I like, so it's really a win-win.

That's good news.
Pity that "they" are going to change things for the worse.

Anyway, we shall press on.

Since you gave me the site for my fix do you know of one to change the color of the drop down boxes? Like when you have a selection in a field, and you click the down arrow the options are blue background with white text (just like when you highlight text). I don't know what the code would be, and I can't find any styles (unless I'm looking in the wrong place).
