Thunderbird has block a file from loading into this message.

Post by nunoleite »

Hi!

I have a custom signature that adds a file jpg with my logo, and then some text with contacts.
This new version of Thunderbird 52 is always saying that it blocked a file and it's very annoying has this file is from my computer. A local file.
This didn't happened with version 48.
This is very annoying has i always have to click the button "Options..." and choose Unblock File.

How to disable this completely?

Thanks

HI!

I understand that, and i already changed that value (mail.compose.attach_http_images), but it's the same. no change.

My signature is adding an image from my computer not the internet.

Other Solutions?

Thanks

Ditto for me. My signature elements often load jpg images, or at least they try to load the images. With the new TBird, they are blocked with the message "Thunderbird has blocked some files from loading into this message. Unblocking a file will include it in your sent message."

What config setting do I need to tweak so that I can load files from my own drives into my own messages in my own copy of Thunderbird on my own computer?

Are you embedding the image or using a link to it?

I created a separate HTML signature file with text plus a JPEG image of a tree frog using the BlueGriffon HTML editor. I first used Insert->Image and then created another signature file using Insert->Link. In both cases the signature worked fine when sent using TB 52.1.0, with no error message. The signature that used Insert->Link did not show the image unless you clicked on it in Thunderbird, but automatically showed it when opened using webmail. The message body had <a href="cid:part1.47A70746.FD263186@gmail.com">Tree frog</a>. The image had Content-Disposition: inline; filename="FROG.jpg". The jpg image was not in the profile directory. mail.compose.attach_http_images is set true. Toggling view -> display attachment inline had no effect on what was shown.

I also tried reading the second message using a "em client version 7" email client. Clicking on the link generated a "opening dangerous link" warning message. When I told it to go ahead it popped up a window to have me choose a app from the windows store to open the cid. Unfortunately the windows store didn't have anything that could do that.

Is there any significant difference between what I did and what you are doing for your signature?

If you decide to file a bug report please post a link to it, and also attach the signature file, associated image files and a sample email message that used the signature using the "Attach File" link in the bug report. Its at the bottom of the headers on the left.

Hi!

I'm using the addon Quicktext so i can have different signatures for different situations.

This is my signature:

Code: Select all

Cumprimentos<br>
    Nuno Leite<br>
    <small>---<br>
      <a href="http://www.xxxxx.com"><img
          alt="Nuno Leite" title="Nuno Leite"
src="file:///E:/Work/Docs/Logos/file1.png"
          border="0"></a><br>
      Aplica&ccedil;&otilde;es e Conte&uacute;dos Web<br>
      eMail: <a href="mailto:nunoleite@xxxxx.com">nunoleite@xxxxx.com</a>
Just a simple file from my own computer.

Thanks

I replaced my signature file with yours, replacing only the image file. It worked fine. I used:

Cumprimentos<br>
Nuno Leite<br>
<small>---<br>
<a href="http://www.xxxxx.com"><img
alt="Nuno Leite" title="Nuno Leite"
src="file:///C:/Users/Eric/Profiles/Thunderbird/FROG.jpg"
border="0"></a><br>
Aplica&ccedil;&otilde;es e Conte&uacute;dos Web<br>
eMail: <a href="mailto:nunoleite@xxxxx.com">nunoleite@xxxxx.com</a>

edit: I also tried using a .png file instead of a jpg file, same results.

I have this problem when I embed images into the body of the email. MY signature is also an image.

Surely this is a bug?

Possibly, since 4 people have reported it in the two threads that I'm aware of. But I can't duplicate it. We need to figure out whats it dependent upon before somebody writes a bug report or it will probably just get closed/ignored.

I suggest you see if this problem occurs if you disable the signature, and just embed images in the message body. The two problems may be unrelated.

Hi !
Same situation as nunoleite here with TB 52.1 with Stationery extension. Works perfectly well with TB 45.8, but since, I get this message when I compose a new message with a signature with a local image :
"Thunderbird has blocked a file from loading into this message. Unblock the file..."
I took nunoleite's signature too, replacing with my image, and the same problem occurs.
Thanks.
