any new way to baclup?

Post by walkerpbus »

Is there an add-on that backs up TBird like FEBE does Firefox? Or is Mozbackup all there is?
Win 10 Pro desktop, but now 64-bit latest Windows 10. Usually latest or latest-1 Thunderbird on this machines.

Hi,
If you go to the site & look for the Beta 1.5.2, that is supposed to still function O.K.

There is an old extension called TEBE for Thunderbird.
Not sure if it's still supported, as the last date was 2012.

(Always choose the "Custom" Install.)

ImportExportTools has backup and restore options.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Third_party_p ... d_services . MailStore Home might be the best alternative if you can live with it not backing up the settings (prefs.js file) and address books (*.mab files). The main limitation of using ImportExportTools for backups is it doesn't compress (zip) the backup.

Don't overlook the possibility of using a file sync utility such as those in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Synchronizing ... _computers instead.

The way I use is to simply copy my user profile.

– In Thunderbird, press ALT to display menus, then select "Help ? –> Debugging information"
– In the window that opens, the 4th line is called "Profile Folder".
– Click on the button ; your profile folder will be opened.

Or, alternatively:
– In Windows Explorer, click on Display, and make sure that hidden elements are displayed.
– Look for your profile folder under C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles
The current profile is the one named "a bunch of letters.default".
The content of that folder is your profile.

– Then quit Thunderbird.
– Copy all the content of that folder to your favourite destination. You now have a backup of your current profile.
