Why Is FF Blocking Adobe Air Download?
I've had numerous scans notify me that Adobe Air needs to be updated. When I click on the Adobe Air DL button it takes me to some page that shows something about their Cloud app.
I finally tried IE to see if something on my PC was causing it. As it turned out, I was able to DL the latest version so that means it isn't my security software or a glitch on my PC, but appears that it has something to do with FF.
I haven't installed it yet to find out here whether or not it will cause a problem with FF.
Here are the links. https://get.adobe.com/air/
After clicking on the above link and clicked on Download now, it instead takes me to this page. http://www.adobe.com/#

FWIW
Adobe and others will all be Nagging you and other Nightly users to update to the "Cloud" versions of their Apps and Extensions before it actualy happens.

I tried using their instructions and it sent me to that page again. Is anyone else having this problem when they click on the Download now button?

I'm sorry, but I don't want to try and wind up with Adobe Air on my system - I'd have to uninstall it again, which can be a pain in the toosh.Wiggam72 wrote:I tried using their instructions and it sent me to that page again. Hmm...What do you use Adobe Air for?
Isn't that just an annoyance that gets installed with Adobe's updater installed?

No one has to install it. After clicking on Download now, a dialog box is supposed to pop up asking if you want to DL or Run, then the dialog box can be cancelled without DL or running it. So, all I want to find out is if the link sends others to the page it sends me to, or if the dialog box will pop up.Happy112 wrote:I'm sorry, but I don't want to try and wind up with Adobe Air on my system - I'd have to uninstall it again, which can be a pain in the toosh.Wiggam72 wrote:I tried using their instructions and it sent me to that page again. It was some time ago so I don't remember exactly, but I think the reason was that a few things weren't playing correctly and searched for a solution and found that using Adobe Air would solve it. After I installed it the problem went away.mightyglydd wrote:Hmm...What do you use Adobe Air for?

Okay, I took a deep breath, kept my fingers crossed and did it .....Wiggam72 wrote: No one has to install it. It started to download immediately, I almost panicked and pressed 'cancel'.
I'll try and see if I can find out some more about this.

This is what I found :
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2127926
You'll have to scroll all the way down !
Any good ?
Another thing you could try :
3-bar menu => Options => Advanced => General tab => under 'Accessibility'
check : 'Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload a page'

Never heard of that, AFAIK it has nothing to do with playing Flash or we'd all have it installed, even our IT guys (I believe we're Adobe $$ 'customers') have no idea why the damn thing appears unannounced..it's for developers.Wiggam72 wrote: It was some time ago so I don't remember exactly, but I think the reason was that a few things weren't playing correctly and searched for a solution and found that using Adobe Air would solve it. Re: Why Is FF Blocking Adobe Air Download?
I can't remember. I'm obviously not a developer, but I'm certain there was some important reason I installed it. I've had it for a couple of years. As far as an update notification, Adobe AIR didn't notify me. I ran a scan with my security software and it showed me several programs on my PC that needed updating. Most of them were able to update by simply clicking on Update. AIR obviously was not one of them, hence the reason I went to their site.mightyglydd wrote:Never heard of that, AFAIK it has nothing to do with playing Flash or we'd all have it installed, even our IT guys (I believe we're Adobe $$ 'customers') have no idea why the damn thing appears unannounced..it's for developers.Wiggam72 wrote: It was some time ago so I don't remember exactly, but I think the reason was that a few things weren't playing correctly and searched for a solution and found that using Adobe Air would solve it. BTW, AIR has never notified me of a new update. My version was several updates behind.

YES!! It worked! Thanks a lot! I have uBlock Origin and it turns out it was the culprit. Why I didn't think it was the problem was because Adobe is not a rogue or unknown site and it didn't let me know it was blocking the popup/dialog box.
After reading the link you posted, I disabled uBlock Origin via the toolbar feature but it didn't work. I wasn't sure if it would make a difference, but I disabled it via the Add-ons Manager refreshed the page and then the dialog box appeared after clicking on Download now.
Thanks again Happy122!!
