It was renamed from Phoenix to Firebird (as of version 0.6) because of Phoenix bios. Then it was because the open source Firebird SQL had Firebird name first that Mozilla then renamed it to Firefox as of version 0.8. It was Jason Kersey (kerz) that owns/runs mozillaZine that suggested the Firefox name. I doubt they would go back without asking for permission first to share name and it would confuse people who did not use the browser before version 0.8 (yes the Fx 1.0 was not the first release as many wrongly think).

This is nostalgic and strange.

This is the icon of Phoenix and Firebird.

At that time, community people in Japan called this as "Red cabbage" or "Phoenix's chest hair".

It happens when you have "Show the number of blocked requests on the icon" activated, the icon will disappear into the overflow menu when the number appears.

Code: Select all

:root[uidensity=compact] {
  --toolbarbutton-inner-padding: 6px !important;
}

:root {
  --toolbarbutton-inner-padding: 6px !important;
}
To have the uBlock/uMatrix icons displayed with the number of blocked requests, requires an inner-padding of 6 (compact or not). Less than 6 and the icons will be pushed to the overflow menu (compact or not).

Edit: As mentioned earlier, having say the download icon between the uBlock/uMatrix icons and the overflow/hamburger menus also stops them being pushed to overflow - and allows smaller inner-padding values.
Thanks dude.

Confirmed.

For me, it happens when:

a) Compact layout is enabled
b) uBlock Origin is configured to show the number of blocked ads on the icon
c) Icon is next to the hamburger button.

For now, I've just moved it left a few positions. Seems to work as a temporary fix.

Tampermonkey icon shows a similar behavior, btw.

Anyone know why the web extension version of ublock origin is showing as a legacy addon?

Turns out you have to enable the legacy addon pref then install ublock beta/release and then you can pref legacy off again :?

I did not have to do that. Long time ago.

Here is Ray's explanation for the transition process for going from legacy to WebExtension uBlock Origin: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/ ... Extensions
