streetwolf wrote:Perhaps you newbies to Nightly versions might know this but userchrome.css will probably be deprecated in the near future according to various articles on the subject. The whole purpose of Webextensions is not to expose any internal stuff to the user for security reasons. Modifying the Chrome falls into this category. Why not try to live without any css mods? You'd be surprised how many css mods and Add-ons you can live without. Of course the choice is yours. :-)

Deprecated!? ......Are you kidding me? #-o #-o #-o

With Opera = Chrome = Firefox (very soon), there is no longer any choice available.
I gonna have a hard time explaining these stuff to my family and friends.
Think they gonna buy security over customization stuff as reason? Hmm.....

With all those add-ons gone.......somehow, I feel like it is back in year 1998 all over again. ](*,)
No mouse gesture, no CSS theming, no Flash (flash should be gone), no customization...

And no doubt people can live without browsers as well!
Trying my luck with Stylus beta instead of Stylish for web page content. Not bad.

There is not a single serious word regarding future of userchrome.css as far as I know.

Could live without userChrome, but it's nice to have https://imgur.com/a/LHjFw

Hoping custom.firefox.lady can land stay open menu features (if only for mouse). Would be a bit of a cherry on top for me.
Probably too much to hope for status text in the url bar.

Put the pieces together. CSS is used to modify internal stuff. Wbextensions were designed to restrict direct control of the internals of Fx which css is just one case. Why would Mozilla allow users to continue to modify the Chrome via CSS yet not allow it for add-ons? On the other hand Usercontent.css will probably remain as it modifies content which Mozilla seems OK with.

Face facts. Fx will become like Google Chrome. It has the same restrictions from the get go yet they are the number one browser. Folks will get used to the 'new' Fx or go to another browser that lets you modify it like Fx used too.

But these pieces are not the same, userChrome.css is basically "native" stuff for Firefox. You can not tweak something, which is not supported by Firefox. It's very light control of the internals of FX.
Yes, IF Firefox will become like Chrome = will have native UI, then obviously there will be no option for such tweaks, but we are far far away from this.
userChrome stuff is not something available on the AMO nor easy to use by general public, so I don't see a point to bother with it anytime soon.

Some strange behaviour of bookmarks
1. Create new profile
2. Remove all bookmarks in "Bookmark toolbar" folder
3. Create new bookmark folders in "Bookmark toolbar" (by using sidebar)
Bookmark toolbar
>>>> 1
>>>> 2
>>>> 3
4. Remove folder "1"
5. Context menu on "Bookmark toolbar" > Properties > Cancel
Folder 1 returned back. If repeating step 5 several times removed by step 2 bookmarks came back.

I have mine set for 6 content processes using Options > General scroll down to Performance, uncheck "Use recommended performance settings" and changed the hidden "Content process limit" to 6.

Let's hope that the Firefox will never ever become like Google Chrome, because of various reasons.
The Mozilla Firefox was always web browser, which powers were the customization and the powerful extensions with their awesome developers and community, as the whole,
now we are about to lose that everything, it's kinda very sad, but let's see how things will become.
streetwolf wrote:yet they are the number one browser.
Only because of forcing installer and ads in every software and website pages, not to mention massive amount of $$$.
streetwolf wrote:Folks will get used to the 'new' Fx or go to another browser that lets you modify it like Fx used too.
For many users, which were using extensions for features to easier their browsing life, second option is probably the best choice.

Virtualfox persona
Tired of constant Firefox UI changes? XUL extensions are not working anymore? Try SeaMonkey, Waterfox Classic, Pale Moon.
