How do I change my standard account?

Post by TDV »

On websites you sometimes have to click "contact us" and then thunderbird opens a new mail page, but in my case, it chooses the one mail provider, that works worst. Thunderbird chose that mail adress by itself, it never asked me which of my four e-mail adresses from different providers I want a standard,

How can I change this?

THanks, TDV

When the new mail page appears, it automatically selects the "default account" by default. You can change the default account the way Dan explained. If you want to send the mail using an account which is not your default account, then you have to change yourself the account you send the message from by using the "From" pull-down menu that appears at the top of the message you are writing.

Other tips you might use.

1. If you have issues sending messages from one of your accounts, you might go to "Account parameters" and change its outgoing server to use your default account's server (or that of any other account). This does not work with all providers.

2. If you want to order your account differently:
– The default account is always at the top.
– To reorder other accounts, use Manually sort folders extension.
