I'll keep doing only one thread per day. Don't have the time/will to do this everyday, twice.
For me, in the brazilian time zone, the first build is ready at 11 am and the second at 11 pm.
I'm sorry for those that will use more the second build of each day, as this list will always show just half of the changes for them.

I, me, would not expect you to do two a day. Neither should anyone else. And I would think the others would not either.

Has anyone been testing webrender constantly? Has Mozilla announced when it would be finished? Tried it a few weeks ago, text was a little off.

Funny you should mention this. I have been testing WR off and on for many months. WR is definitely faster than ever. Some problematic sites are now working OK. I still get crashes every now and then as well as hangs. It's not ready for prime time yet.

I do need some help with anyone more familiar with Mozregression than I am. I'm on the latest inbound with presumably all the latest WR stuff. I notice that when I enable WR I no longer have any menus when I click on my add-ons that are on the toolbar. The Fx icons work fine. All my add-ons are Webextensions btw. I went back to a release from August 1st and had the same problem'

I opened up this bug report 1395592 – [Webrender] Add-on icons on toolbar have empty menus and a Mozregression report is needed. Could someone (Alice you reading this?) read over the bug report and come up with a regression range? I'd be much obliged.

My Win 64 56.0b7 updated yesterday afternoon around 2:00 PM EDT. I don't follow the Dev series.

Edit: My bad. I lost a day somewhere. My update was on TUESDAY. My Friday update to beta 6 however came on Sat.

yeah, graphics stuff is one of the hardest IMO, so probably this will be the last major "quantum" project to land (at least for now)...
Photon and Stylo will be the first for 57, then we could expect Quantum DOM... and regarding Quantum Flow, it is an ongoing gradual effort since ~Q1.

Re: The first official 20170901 builds are not yet out

I have no idea what happened just now but I installed the latest 'tinderbox m-c win32' build.
cset: 20170831195811 13d241d08912be31884f9d0d0e805b25343d6c0a

After running the installer (I removed via add/remove programs the previous build) at the end of the install it suddenly did a 'restart on my system' without any warning. I still had several programs still running and windows 10 did prompt me if I wanted to continue or cancel. I canceled so I could properly close the running programs, then did the restart manually.

Nothing 'obvious' is broken that I can tell.. by why would they (mozilla) force a restart for an install. I did see while running the installer that some 'housekeeping' was being performed. No idea what that was either.

Not there and did not see... but ask a long time Windows user my guess would be that if Win 10 'asked you' to restart/reboot that was a Windows update and it had nothing to do with your Firefox update.

I think the only thing Win10 did was block the restart due to other running programs. I checked update history and no new updates were download today, and I 've not restarted in the last 8-9 days.

Will likely remain a mystery.

Maybe. Windows 10 is pretty clever. It will 'tell' you that you have open (running) programs and ask you if you would like to go back and close them yourself or if you want Windows to close them for you.

Sometimes programs have a problem when closing. For example? Both Firefox and Thunderbird have had problems closing 'all the subroutines stuff'. Every so often this forum fills with posts such as that.

Back to the topic. Is Firefox 'broken'? Since the profile, where your stuff is, is separate from the program install It has been my experience that a 'reinstall' (rerun the installer) fixes that.

Best wishes.

No, everything seems 'normal' so not sure what was updated that required a re-start. I just know I've been doing remove 'old' re-install 'new' for years now, sometimes a few times per/day and don't recall ever seeing a forced re-start after the install.

Hmm... Okay that is all okay but did you get the Mozilla file from Mozilla or one from some 'other site file provider'?

Sometime those have malware in them and they need restarts to get control of your system.

Basically? From where did you get the file?

Another possibility is your Anti-Virus client.

Me and Don Quixote swinging at the windmills here. I have never had a Firefox install cause a restart.
