Mail disappears when moved

Sometimes, when I move an email from one folder to another, it disappears. For example, I filter certain emails to a folder called Ads. Occasionally, when I move the email from this folder to the Inbox, it disappears. (I have done a search to make sure I didn't accidentally move it to a different folder).

Any idea on why this is happening?

Try right clicking on the name of the Inbox folder and selecting "Properties" from the context menu, the click on the "Repair folder" button.
