Did everybody abandon Nightly? Awful quiet here. :?

Anyway Windows Nightly is out!

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/57.0 BuildID: 20170911100210

Either a lot of my bookmarked sites changed to https overnight, or I just didn't notice the bookmark star wasn't filled in until today. Adding the s to http in the bookmarks properties fixed that.

I'm using Fx57 for regular browsing. The only extensions I have are uBlock Origin, Stylus, and Violentmonkey. No significant issues to complain about :)

I came across a serious performance regression recently caused by a lot of expensive stuff FF runs on the UI thread in the face of too many ongoing HTTP requests. More details here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1396856
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1397448
Unfortunately, I don't notice any improvements after these bugs landed. I reproduced this regression when scrolling the page in the active tab while loading another web page with big number of thumbnails in the background with uMatrix installed.

To say honestly, I am afraid the performance profiles I sent to developers might not be enough to find the source of the problem so maybe someone on this forum will help devs get rid of this issue.
Sorry for my poor English.

Can't agree more. Except a few glitches with my google drive sometime, it all works just fine.

I'm still using Nightly. Or should it now be called Nightly and Daily ... Night and Day. (There's a song by that name!)

Bug?: With twice the updates I noticed that the Big Mac menu last night didn't have the green restart arrow nor id the top menu item have "Restart Firefox" even though Help -> About Firefox indicated Firefox should be restarted to install latest upgrades. I don't know if this was a one-off bug.

Fixed: I noticed right+click on download icon or on library icon no longer produces two context menus, but just the one it should.

Still broken: We still have the bug of doing a mouse drag from the (i) of the address bar to the Bookmarks Toolbar has the drop indicator (blue down-pointing triangle that should be just above the Bookmarks Toolbar) is still up in the tab bar or hidden. (I think the regression I ran for this bug was the latest regression I had run.)

Otherwise, right now I have no issues to complain about and I am still using Nightly as my Daily browser. (There's that song title again! Ella Fitzgerald - Night and Day.) :D

@ GHM113 - If I remember correctly, gorhill said that WebExtensions will be slower then legacy extensions (or at least uBlock Orgin).
Virtualfox persona
Tired of constant Firefox UI changes? XUL extensions are not working anymore? Try SeaMonkey, Waterfox Classic, Pale Moon.

This new Library - Downloads panel is very choppy for me if I scroll the list of downloaded items with mouse wheel or two finger gesture on touchpad... but very smooth using scrollbar...

still here, still nightly. Recently made a new profile and am seeing a lot of small nitpicky issues I was having resolved, so that's nice! :)

Still here as well... I'm just not finding anything to complain about. Some of the recent, last few days things, others are seeing I'm not able to repo.

I have noticed for myself anyhow that over past couple days the Nightly seems faster. I use one addon - ForecastFox, and of course the other 'junkware' Mozilla has added.

No... 10 months ago I said (emphasis added):
GHM113 wrote:I decided to test uBlock Origin WebExtension and it turned out it currently slows down the browser a bit.
This matches my (superficial) findings, about which I commented on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/commen ... s/d9dz9ms/. I am very confident though that as the webext API matures, performance will get better -- it still being in development, I expect more time will be spent on optimisations in the near future.
Summary: performance difference was small, and I expected things to improve given how much development work was left ahead.

So I ran the exact same benchmark as I did in the reddit post, here is the result I just got for the same web page:

Nightly 57.0a1 (2017-09-11) (64-bit):
- uBO/webext (out of process): 581.04 ms
- No extension: 513.84 ms

Compare this to what I got 10 months ago with Nightly:
- uBO/webext: 926 ms
- No extension: 445 ms

For comparison/reference, here is what I get with Chrome 62 (also dev build):
- uBO: 610.14 ms
- No extension: 517.70 ms
