I have tons of issues with firefox. Like cursor freezing several times within a short period of time, no sound on youtube videos on first try, firefox freezing altogether for some reason and has to constantly restart it, google auto complete not working and etc.
So I have decided to do a clean install. However I can't find a tutorial to show how to do it. Everytime I delete the mozilla folders from %appdata% and I install firefox, it still says looks like you have re-installed firefox blah blah. And the problems I mentioned above return and persist.
I tried refreshing and tried safe mode and same issues so those didn't work.
So I figured a clean install would do the trick but I don't know how to do it as there is no tutorial for it. Like it is impossible or something.
So can anyone point me in the direction of how to do a complete clean install or is it not possible and I have to reinstall windows which in that case is not possible cuz I am in a hospital and that is not possible now.
How do I do a clean install of firefox?

1. Download the full installer here.rep97 wrote:So can anyone point me in the direction of how to do a complete clean install or is it not possible and I have to reinstall windows which in that case is not possible cuz I am in a hospital and that is not possible now.
2. Uninstall Firefox through Programs and Features.
3. Delete the "Mozilla" folder below. If you have SeaMonkey installed, you'll need to go one directory deeper and delete the Firefox folder.
Without SeaMonkey: c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\
With SeaMonkey: c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\
4. Delete the "Mozilla" folder below.
c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\
5. Install Firefox.

Why does he need to know about Seamonkey?

If he has SM installed and deletes the Mozilla folder in step 3, it will delete his SM profile. The link you provided doesn't mention step 4 (deleting the cache folder).malliz wrote:Why does he need to know about Seamonkey?

"the blah blah" is ok, but persisting problems with a new profile (%appdata%\Mozilla) points out to system and/or instaleld software, sorry, your issues are not made by firefox.and I install firefox, it still says looks like you have re-installed firefox blah blah. And the problems I mentioned above return and persist.

I followed L.A.R. Grizzly's advice in his post and deleted everything and then I went one step further and deleted every file named 'mozilla' or 'fireofox' on hard drive and then one step even further and searched for 'mozilla' and 'firefox' and deleted it all in regedit and installed firefox and everything is back to normal for now.
If I face problems ahead I will return and do the above but for now it is not needed. thx all

ftw firefox in registry is only default browser, no more, no other settings.
if you had firefox reinstalled then its only profile or system. next time.
%localappdata%\mozilla for non important data. maybe that one.deleted every file named 'mozilla'
