Strange add-on Firefox Screenshots

Post by logithack »

Hey everyone,

I've noticed that a strange icon is showing up in Firefox all of a sudden. When I hover across it with the mouse, the tooltip displayed says "Firefox Screenshots". However, when I click on it, nothing happens. When I enter the add-on manager where my other add-ons like ublock are displayed, it's not there. I didn't even install anything like that and I can't find anything about it on Google.

That's what it looks like: https://imgur.com/a/WQouz

I've already run a malware scan because I've experienced before on a different machine that malware can cause annoying browser add-ons to be installed which bombard you with advertisement popups. However, the malware scan didn't show any results.

Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks very much.

Regards,

See this article on how to disable it: https://www.ghacks.net/2017/08/12/how-t ... shot-tool/

P.S. Expect to see more weird and not so wonderful additions to FF in the not too distant future courtesy of Mozilla.

You can also delete the screenshot.xpi file and it will be gone. Same for pocket.

Did you check both prefs to make sure the extension isn't disabled?
extensions.screenshots.disabled
extensions.screenshots.system-disabled

Another way to take a full page screenshot:
