Send email after a delay
Hello,
I am very impulsive and I often regret to send some emails after few minutes.
How can I pose a delay before sending any email?
I explored one addon in the past that supposedly did that, but it didn't work.
Any hint?

I often take a long windy road to my destination. Upon arrival, I wonder how I missed the shortcut.

Re: Send email after a delay
Can you implement gmail settings in Thunderbird? Isn't Unsend an event that would occur after an email was sent? I read the question as a delay rather than an undo/unsend task.
To execute the unsend -- do you have to go into gmail and unsend?

Re: Send email after a delay
I'm working on an addon -- DoWhatIThink.xpi -- but I've got a long ways to go
Sorryl...that was with a little sarcasm.
What do you want it to do?
-- Do you want it to send the mail without prompting you after the time delay?
-- Does it prompt you when there is no mail to send?
It if isn't right I'd suggest you contact the developer and share your thoughts with him.
Contact information (if this is the one you are using):
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunde ... ersion=6.3

Re: Send email after a delay
Hello,
I experienced that Send Later addon sometimes does not send emails at all and does not save them in the Sent folder.
As you can appreciate this is extremely dangerous and frustrating.
Is there any other solution?
thanks!

Re: Send email after a delay
There is built in support (file -> send later or Ctrl+Shift+Return) for sending later in Thunderbird. It queues the messages to be sent in the outbox folder in Local Folders. You can use "file -> send unsent messages" to send the queued messages. The main reason for using the send later add-on is to schedule when a message is sent. AFAIK the send later 3 add-on works fine.
Are you configured to send in the background using mailnews.sendInBackground ? That is still not fully implemented, it has problems dealing with any errors.

I managed to install the BlunderDelay add-on using TB 52.7.0 after installing the disable add-on compatibility check add-on at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunde ... src=search . It worked fine when I tested it but I don't know how reliable it is (it's no longer maintained and will probably break with TB 60).

Re: Send email after a delay
mailnews.sendInBackground is disabled by default. You can enable it (set it true) using the config editor at tools -> options -> advanced -> general. Just enter mailnews.sendInBackground in the search field and double click on the entry in the value column to toggle its value.
"how can I configure sent-later to send after 15min all the messages I click to the normal TB send button? Without opening the send-later dialog box?"
The send later add-on adds support for several custom send later buttons that are hard coded for a specific delay, such as 15 minutes. You could customize the compose message window toolbar to add that button. Otherwise you need to use something like the BlunderDelay add-on.

Re: Send email after a delay
It is false by default. If you want to enable sending a message in the background, set it true. You might want to also set mailnews.show_send_progress false if you do that.
