Bookmark All Tabs doesn't work anymore???

Post by thechamlin »

Using 55.0.3 (64-bit) on Windows 10. For the last month, when I right click and select "bookmark all tabs", choose where I want it to reside, click okay...it doesn't seem to work anymore. I've checked everywhere in case it is locating elsewhere but can't find it. Is this common now? Solutions? Other options? I've been having to create a new bkmk folder, and drag tabs into it. Crazy!

Thanks!

Does it work in safe mode?

When things work properly in Safe Mode but not in Standard Mode it often indicates that an installed extension is causing problems. Try disabling all extensions but one and then close and restart the program. (Disable them by using menu path Tools->Addons->Extensions->click on "Disable" for every extension but one.) See if the problem is present. If not, enable an additional extension and close and restart the application. Repeat this procedure until the problem reappears. The last enabled extension will be the cause of the problem.

I reopened in regular mode, but the old problem persisted. Then, disabled all of the addons manually, and the old problem persisted. ?

I will try the manual addon disabling again, then close and reopen. Maybe that would be a better test.

Yes, after disabling an add-on, close and restart Firefox.

Culprit was Add Bookmark Here (superscript 2)

Okay, I can live without it. BUT, after I bookmark ALL tabs, there is a full 5 second delay before I can click on anything in FF. Ideas about that one?

Ugh, I have to disable everything again and see which one is causing that. Sigh. :)

Guys, even in Safe Mode, the problem persists. Every time I bookmark all tabs, even with just 3 tabs in the batch, there is a 5 to 10 second freeze. Help?

What is the file size of places.sqlite and how many bookmarks do you have?

The name of a JSON bookmarks backup file includes a total item count (folders and separators included).
bookmarks-YYYY-MM-DD_<item-count>_<hash>.jsonlz4.
Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup -> Restore

Not sure what you're suggesting on the restore...restore today's backup?

No, there is no need to restore a JSON backup.
I only mentioned the file because it makes it easier to test the number of bookmarks you have and in your case it shows an impressive 39989 count.
Such a high count could explain why you sometimes experience a delay in cases where Firefox needs to check whether a visit count or other property needs to be updated or when a query list needs to be generated.

Well, I guess I could experimentally delete 2/3 of them and test that. Then restore. Of course, if I had a month I could delete truly unnecessary ones. Thanks!
