Cannot close Firefox
Hi, I've been a Firefox user for many years, and never encountered this problem before. Whenever I click on the "X" to close, I get a chime and no closure. It is impossible to close from File because the tool bar is screened and I can't click on anything there. If I click on any part of the Firefox page, I get that annoying chime and nothing happens. That chime driving me crazy, so any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Re: Cannot close Firefox
Have you tried starting Firefox in Mozilla Safe Mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
If no improvement using Safe Mode, do you have the same problem if you create a new profile and test it with no extensions or non-default themes installed?

I'm guessing "grayed out" but let's see what the OP says.therube wrote:What is "screened"?

Oh, so then all part if this.If I click on any part of the Firefox page, I get that annoying chime and nothing happens.
In that case, I'd guess that FF is compute bound, in a state it may never recover from (i.e., essentially hung).
How much CPU is FF eating at these times?
