SOLVED 2.49.1 manage add-ons "options" broken

Post by Carl-Robert »

Hey!

Some add-ons which use the "inline"/"same page" options in the "manage add-ons" page show either no options or give some bugged nonsense. Such as Decentraleyes show nothing after clicking "options", and HTTPS Everywhere shows some garbled nonsense with a "browse" option.

Something gone wrong with the add-ons updates or a known issue seamonkey's end which is being worked on? Those add-ons which use the classic pop-up style options work just fine.

Moving to SeaMonkey Builds as 2.49.1 is not yet a release version.

I installed decentraleyes-1.3.10-an+fx+sm.xpi (have no clue what it does) into 2.49.1, seemingly without incident.
All looks well to me.

Create a new Profile.
Install decentraleyes.
What happens?
Fire 750, bring back 250.

It "works", but cannot change "options", because they no longer appear after clicking the button. Something to do with the fact Decentraleyes uses the in-page options, as in no pop-ups or new tabs etc.
Same thing with HTTPS Everywhere like said on the first post.

I installed
Oops. I'm thinking I did that is FF, not SeaMonkey.

In SeaMonkey 2.49.1 (really this time)...

it installs
options (Addons Manager) looks to work
but there is no icon (not in Customize either)

So, you can't see status or enable/disable a site.
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Alright. I'll try to reinstall Seamonkey after backing everything up of course, and then try again. Editing this post accordingly when home and having time for that, as seems the options are supposed to work.

EDIT: Got the Decentraleyes add-on to show the options by creating a new profile and importing the important stuff. So 100% user error on my side then.
Ditched HTTPS Everywhere because couldn't get it to really work, but I don't think the add-on is even relevant anymore so not going to cry about it.

So on my account this thread can be locked/deleted/marked as solved.

(Presumably they should, but they don't.)

Decentraleyes has become a webextension for FF57 & above (starting with version 2.0) so just use the existing one for FF 52 ESR and SM (v1.3.10)
