new tab is firefox google home page but starts in address ba

I have my home page set to firefoxs home page with google when i first open it my curser is in the central search box, but when I open new tab (set to same page) the cursor starts in address bar

how do i change that so that in opening a new tab my cursor is in the central search box on the page?

Yes thats the page. My home page is set to Mozilla Firefox start page. my new tab is set to the same page

when i open up my firefox browser I get that page, however the cursor automatically starts on the ADDRESS BAR. when i open up a new tab it goes to the same page but the cursor also starts in the ADDRESS BAR

this is very frustrating because it used to go to the central "search" portion on the page, which i prefer. I think that changed with 56

How do i change this back? I dont want to go to an earlier version of Firefox

There used to be a way to fix that

1. Undo whatever you used to set about:home as your new tab page.
2. Install New Tab Override.
3. Open its options page, either from the Add-ons Manager or the toolbar icon.
4. Select "about:home" and check "Set focus to the web page instead of the address bar".

How did you manage to do that?
The default new:tab page isn't about:home - the Firefox Start Page.
