No Squint add on

Post by wallythekat »

I have Firefox 56.0.1 (64-bit) and now my No Squint add-on does not save the settings. The zoom returns to 120% and the custom background color disappears every time I reload the page.

How do I correct this?

thanks

Walt

Brummelchen - My problem is with the No Squint add-on not the noscript add-on.

The NoSquint extension hasn't been updated since 2013 so it should not be surprising that it has problems running in current versions of Firefox. Have you considered replacing that extension with the NoSquint Plus extension?

And have you confirmed that you have the latest version of the extension installed? It might pay to remove the currently installed extension and then install the version available from the AMO site.

Click on the link to the NoSquint Plus extension in my post above to go to the Addons Mozilla web site.

The current release version of NoSquint Plus is shown as compatible with Firefox 42.0 and later

The "Compatible with Firefox 57+" means that it is not a legacy extension and unlike many other addons will still work with Firefox 57

i apologize for stupid reading.

NoSquint (without plus) is really old - it was auto-signed ("signed-signed") and author had dropped it long ago.

the meaning of compatible "-56" seems also automatic, in a regular way author raises this number by hand but as writen he dropped.

what you can try is to use the Plus build "56.1" and to examine if your settings are overtaken/imported:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /versions/

the comments are very rude but this points out that the webxtension (61.x) is not working well or complete buggy. this circumstance is not limited to NoSquint plus, there are other extension which work well with firefox 57, but not with v56.

i dont know which extension you are using at all but it is right now time to investigate if an early upgrade to 57beta seems more usefull than a combination which never will work together. and then we can talk about alternatives like "zoom page WE" and similar.

from my view i had left boris basderin behind me. its not the annoying popup (new tab) when installing or updating or the code miracles he write, he is encouraged but i dont like his extension.

concerning nosquint+ again - same question in german forum - some linked to the older nosquint+ v54.
the official build is not usable - thats what i mentiond with code miracles - it has an expiry date.
this build here -> https://www.camp-firefox.de/forum/viewt ... 7#p1041887
dont own such code - its german/english only but i think it would make you happier - and its signed - the source (Endor, also here @MZ) is trustable!
