But everyone has to understand that Google is playing some dirty pool because they want more people using their horrible "Chrome" browser! You must create a simple work-around to allow faithful users of Mozilla browsers to continue to do so:
"Technical Details
"mail.google.com uses an invalid security certificate.
"The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.
The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates.
An additional root certificate may need to be imported."
THAT's nothing but pure BS!

Why mail.google.com and not imap.gmail.com or pop.gmail.com?The-1-Kiwi wrote:Version 2.48.

I use IMAP in Thunderbird and it is imap.gmail.com for the Incoming server and smtp.gmail.com for the Outgoing server.
In order to use SeaMonkey 2.48 I would have to allow access to less secure apps, which I have no intention of trying.
The Next button for setting up OAuth doesn't work in SM 2.48, but should in 2.49.1.

Same here.WaltS48 wrote:I use IMAP in Thunderbird and it is imap.gmail.com for the Incoming server and smtp.gmail.com for the Outgoing server.
I initially assumed that the OP was trying to access it through the browser, though.
In that case, I would go to gmail.com, not mail.google.com.

Whatever was happening from 7:00AM to 11:00AM, Google has temporarily corrected. I always keep a tab open to gmail.com, when I am online, and refresh that every couple of hours, plus or minus. I haven't tried Firefox to see if it is (still) affected. In the interim, I was accessing my mail via K-Meleon.
